Invitation to the National Jamboree of RAN/S

“100^th RUSSIAN SCOUTING ANNIVERSARY”

(Russia, Saint-Petersburg, Leningrad Oblast, “Krasnoe Ozero” Resort)

July 27-August 5 2009

Scouts of Russia will accept friends from other countries at the end of July, 2009. The National Jamboree, celebrating the Centennial of Scouting in Russia, will be held near Saint Petersburg at the famous ski resort of Krasnoe Ozero, located in the picturesque area of Karelsky peninsula. The camp will gather more than three thousand Scouts from all areas of Russia, from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. We expect foreign delegations from the USA, Japan, Australia, Europe and other regions of the world.

Major events will include a city tour of Saint-Petersburg and celebration of the centennial of Russian Scouting. Participants of the Jamboree will compete in different sports: football, swimming, volleyball, rowing and others. All participants will have an opportunity to get acquainted with Russian history, folklore, customs, and traditions. Our international participants will also have an opportunity to represent their countries. A two-day walking trip will be held for everyone. Teams of Scouts will leave on boats for an overnight camp. They will return on foot along the shore of the lake. During the second part of each day our Expo Centre will be opened to everyone. One can find there different exhibitions introducing regions and countries of Jamboree participants.

The organizing committee will arrange for meeting of participants in the airport and train stations of Saint Petersburg. A catering company will provide meals. All kinds of special suggestions considering food (vegetarian and so on) will be taken into account. Everyone can get additional food, drinks etc. (except alcohol) in cafe and specialty shop arranged for the Jamboree.

Participation will cost $380 US per person.
