Can you hear me now?

Cellular coverage at Camp Falling Rock has improved.  Several years ago you could only get signal while standing on top of your car in the parking lot.  Verizon subscribers seem to get good in-network reception.  My Sprint phone only gets roaming coverage.  For other carriers, deadzones.com is a helpful resource.

Camp Falling Rock

The Camp Falling Rock page from the Simon Kenton Council website is framed below.  There is also a Camp Falling Rock Website that discusses scout programs and events held at Camp Falling Rock.  Visit the Rock Foundation Website to learn more about the history of Camp Falling Rock and about ongoing efforts to improve and conserve this facility.  Both sites have picture gallerys that are worth visiting if you've never visited this camp.

Additional Camp Falling Rock Information
Camp Wagons

Contrary to popular belief, the metal wagons lined up in the public parking area are not supplied for the amusement of tiger scouts, although tigers seem to enjoy them.

The camp rules do not permit cars past the public parking area except in special circumstances.  You're supposed to use the metal wagons to pack your equipment into the campsites.  If you drive your car into the campsites without making prior arrange- ments, the camp ranger may have a pleasant chat with your tour leader (not recom- mended, at least for the tour leader).

So pack light, leave the inflatable mattress at home, and camp near the parking lot.

If you're young at heart, but your knees feel like they're 70 years old OR you're in charge of a TON of program materials for a pack weekend, have your tour leader CALL the council office -- they'll be happy to work with you.  (Sez AWM, who is speaking from experience).

Wagons come in Blue, Red,
Yellow and Green.
Tigers come in infinite varieties.

See the SKC document,
Camp Policies
for more information about
yellow wagons and other
rules and recommendations.

Don't Feed the Raccoons!

Raccoons are cute and they love potato chips and all the other junk that scouts eat on campout (while Mom isn't around).

If you keep chips or other food in your tent, you may wake up nose to nose with a raccoon at 3:00 a.m. or have your tent trashed while you're away.

  Secure your food!
Don't keep it in your tent!
